Sample Customer Letter for Carrier Ratings Downgrade Added to EO Happens Website
Use this letter to communicate a carrier ratings downgrade to customers.
Effective communication with customers along with proper documentation can stop a potential E&O claim in its tracks.
Available on the E&O Happens website is a
library of sample letters
exclusively available to assist our policyholders.
We recently added a sample letter that can be used with customers to communicate a downgrade in carrier ratings.
The letter provides the customer with the carriers rating at the time of placement along with the new rating and directs them on where they can find out more information.
The letter goes on to outline the customers options along with the potential ramifications and asks the insured to select the option they prefer, sign and return to the agency.
To streamline the sign and return process, check out the Big “I”’s recently introduced exclusive Docusign program offering discounted pricing to members.
Docusign allows you to create your own documents such as this downgrade letter and include an e-signature to efficiently receive and store with the customer file.

The E&O Happens website also offers some additional suggestions for dealing with a carrier downgrade.
They are included under the
“Quick Tips – Miscellaneous”
section of the website.
Since these are exclusive to Swiss Re policyholders you will need to login in using your Big “I” user name and password.
